Bach & DeVos started in 2003 when Rod Bach, a self-employed forestry consultant and Ted DeVos, a trust department forester for Regions Bank teamed up to provide hands-on, forestry and wildlife services to private land owners in central Alabama.
They work for purely timber-oriented clients and purely wildlife/recreational clients, but most landowners fall somewhere in the middle. They listen very intently to client’s objectives and then come up with a plan that will achieve their goals. That is their specialty, tailoring plans that balance multiple objectives. They also take pride in the fact that they spend their client’s money and resources like it is their own. This philosophy has worked well for Bach & DeVos to help grow their business and to help maintain long-term working relationships.
Rod’s background and experience is more timber oriented while Ted is recognized as one of the leading wildlife biologists in the south especially when it comes to quail habitat management. This combination of experience has been very beneficial to their clients. They have management input and/or perform work on over 100,000 acres of land in Central Alabama.
In 2004 shortly after teaming up they saw a need for land clearing services that had less impact and better results than traditional equipment to improve understory habitats, and became one of the first in Alabama to start using Forestry-type Woodland Mulchers. Cam Streetman went to work with them at this time, and they have worked all over the southeast on projects as large as 1,200 acres. Over the years they have over 20,000 hours of mulching/clearing experience.
In addition to forestry and wildlife work, Rod & Ted are licensed Alabama Real Estate Salespersons. Their licenses are held by National Land Realty. They decided to work under NLR because it is the fastest growing and most innovative full service real estate land brokerage company in the United States, and they want to be able to utilize NLR’s strengths to help give clients the best possible real estate services when needed.
